SHIPPING  (new prices & policy effective 11/22/08)

Most prices include return postage using USPS Priority Mail or Fedex/UPS within the continental U.S.  If timing is not important to you, and you don’t mind if I use the USPS media rate, then you may subtract $5.

PAYMENT

Payment for services by: personal check, money order, or PayPal®.   A check or money order should be included with the shipment of the book(s) to be bound.  Washington residents must add the appropriate destination based sales tax to the binding costs.  Please let me know that you live in Washington at the time of placing your order.

Basic Binding or Rebinding with Cloth Cover: $35.00    If the body of the book is intact, and all that is needed is a new hard cover, or if a paperback is desired to become a hardback, I will:

a.

Add new fly leaf.

b.

Reinforce the spine with binding gauze.

c.

Trim edges if needed.

d.

Add headbands.

e.

Make new cover using Davey board, covered with book cloth in your choice of colors). Colors include black, grey, cream, tan, brown, blue, red, dark green, and teal (light green).  I will gladly mail samples to you upon request.

f.

Paper back cover can be glued onto new cover. The books Practical Skills and Huckleberry Finn by Twain were done like this.

Basic Binding or Rebinding with Leather Cover:  $55.00   A variety of colors is available including black, several shades of brown, white, cream, blue, red, purple, lilac, and forest green.  Samples can be mailed to you on request.  For multiple book orders, additional colors can be provided.  Please specify if you want hard back or a flexible cover.

Slip Case in Leather:  $70.00   I make slip cases to fit your books.  They are lined with a heavy black paper on the inside, but can be lined with leather on the inside as well for an additional $10.00.   Imprinting on the outer face is optional.

Portfolio in Leather: $65.00   The Portfolio I have made uses a screw-in type post.  The pages you print should have an extra inch of margin on the bound edge to accommodate the binding.  I will take care of drilling the holes for the posts.

Oversize Books: Add $10.00  If the book pages are larger than 8 1/2 x 11 inches, there is an additional charge of $10.00 added to the basic cost. Be specific describing the desired size and this will aid in providing an accurate quote of costs.

Gluing Pages:   Often people send me a stack of their printed pages.  The pages are clamped together then small grooves are sawn along the spine.  (Example – See Gluing Operation) Glue is spread and thread is run in the grooves.  Several more layers of glue are applied, allowing it to dry between each layer.  This gives a very strong binding for loose pages.

If the original book was glued and needs re-gluing, glue with thread reinforcement will be required before continuing with Basic Rebinding.
Price: add $10.00

Sewn Books:    This process is used for joining a set of magazines together.  Or if a book is falling apart and it was originally sewn together, it will need to be carefully taken apart and re-sewn before continuing with Basic Rebinding.  The sections are hand-sewn together, and then several layers of glue are applied for added strength.
Price: add $20.00

Gold Letter Imprinting:    The title can be imprinted on the spine or front of the cover.  I currently have 4 types of font available:

30 pt. Times New Roman

24 pt. Block letters

24 pt. Cursive letters

18 pt. Cursive letters

(See Example -  Gold Letter Imprinting)

Price: $5.00 per setup.  A setup may contain 3-4 lines in a 2” x 5 ˝” area, depending on font size.

Custom Imprinting:  Customized covers with line-art of special designs are also available.  These designs are imprinted in gold foil by hand using a temperature-controlled pen.  Price varies on size and difficulty.

Reattach Original Cover: $20.00 If the body of the book is intact, and all you need is the cover reattached, I will:

a.

Add new flyleaf.

b.

Reinforce the spine with binding gauze.

c.

Replace or add headbands if needed.

d.

Glue on cover.  Create new spine, if needed, using color coordinated book cloth.

Although I do not specialize in returning old and rare books to their original condition, I am able to reattach old covers by making a new spine and only covering up a bit of the original cover.  This allows a book to be read again when otherwise it would sit on a shelf unread.  Examples: Nicodemus, Winkie Bunny Tail, John Wesley.

Personalized Cover:    Here's an idea for making a book special.  Once, I assembled my child's school papers and made this special book for him.

REFERRAL & VOLUME DISCOUNT

Here in the Northwest, coffee stands abound.  Most of the coffee stands have punch cards where you get a fee coffee after your 10th purchase.  I have the same policy here with my business.  I keep track of how many books I have made for you, and after ten, you get a free one.  This also counts for people you refer to me.  If they have me do a book for them, you get a credit for it as well.  Just make sure they tell me that you sent them to me so I can credit your “punch card.”  I appreciate your business and those you send my way.
